PEC(PRESTIGE EDUCATION CENTRE) http://ukpec.com PEC(PRESTIGE EDUCATION CENTRE) Thu, 24 Aug 2017 09:53:01 +0000 zh-CN hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=4.7.5 Academic Curriculum Wed,20 Mar 2019 13:20:44 +0800 Our unique curriculum uses the best of the latest English National Curriculum. Based on the needs of our students in Beijing, we have carefully identified which elements from the Curricula will boost our students' personal, social and academic achievement most effectively. This curriculum is designed to ensure that PEC's pupils reach their full potential and become learners who have the creativity and confidence to thrive in an increasingly international world. The increased focus on grammar and English language in the new English Curriculum has been particularly effective for our students for whom English is a second language.

Students also use technology to enhance their learning experience through an interactive programme of academic development that is complemented by iPads. Students communicate directly with their teacher and peers outside of class, complete homework and use educational apps, ensuring that your child’s learning won’t stop when they go home.

The Weekend Classes

Our weekend classes offer our most immersive and effective programme of learning. Taught by qualified teachers, it follows the New English curriculum, specifically tailored for our students in Beijing. As in an English or International School classroom, children will learn a range of subjects and skills, with the overriding focus on developing their English speaking, reading and writing skills. Since we have a maximum of 12 pupils per class, this allows our teachers to devote more of their time and experience to your child, focusing on specific gaps in your child's knowledge, tailoring their learning personal learning and boosting progress.

Our classes are spread between three stages:

Reception Class:

From the early stages of English language development, we ensure that students are secure in their basic phonic understanding before they progress into reading and writing. We offer our students a safe and fun environment, where play and independence are encouraged. This is a key stepping stone before the move further up the school.

Lower School:

The early stages of the UK curriculum give students their first exposure to key texts. They recognise the importance of reading, writing and spelling as they become more independent in these areas. Our students are encouraged to become confident speakers through the rich topics of study offered.

Upper School:

Our older students delve deeper into the grammar and formalities of writing, speaking and reading. They are exposed to a wider variety of rich, emotional literacy, inspiring them and giving them a passion for learning which boosts their progress. This allows for a broader learning experience, encompassing a range of topics and subjects.

Romeo and Juliet Wed,20 Mar 2019 13:20:44 +0800 By now you know that PEC looks for learning topics that provide our students with a wonderful insight into the world of literature. 2016 is the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s death, so what better way to celebrate his legacy than by performing one of his much loved stories, Romeo and Juliet. While some of our classes have studied the original text, ours is a modern day version, featuring two gangs of Verona.

Everyone at PEC has worked exceptionally hard to put together this year’s summer production of Romeo and Juliet. There is so much energy that goes into a show like this as well as months of planning and preparation; either helping the students to become their characters or creating scenery and costumes. Without the fantastic team that we have working at PEC, Romeo and Juliet would not exist.

The Wizard of Oz Wed,20 Mar 2019 13:20:44 +0800 The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is an American children's novel written by author L. Frank Baum and illustrated by W. W. Denslow, originally published in 1900. It has since been reprinted on numerous occasions, most often under the title ‘The Wizard of Oz’, which is the title of the popular 1902 Broadway musical adaptation as well as the iconic 1939 musical film adaptation.

The story chronicles the adventures of a young farm girl named Dorothy in the magical Land of Oz, after she and her pet dog Toto are swept away from their Kansas home by a cyclone. The novel is one of the best-known stories in American literature and has been widely translated. The Library of Congress has declared it ‘America's greatest and best-loved homegrown fairy tale’.

This Summer, PEC’s students have created their own version of this wonderful work.

Lion King Wed,20 Mar 2019 13:20:44 +0800 This beautiful story of loss, triumph and responsibility has taken the students the last five months to develop. With singing practice starting in February, students soon learnt the importance of harmonising and working together as a team to sing and perform.

After learning three of the main songs, students began to audition for major parts within the play. The Lion King is a very lengthy play, with some huge parts requiring a strong grasp of English.

We are incredibly proud of how hard our students have worked to learn their parts, rehearse their stage directions and concentrate on their vocal performances.

Every student who takes part in the Lion King, from a large leading part, to a small singing performance is valued. The speaking and listening and teamwork has been incredible, I know the students are so proud of what they have put together.

A school performance like this challenges and teaches students the importance of teamwork, collaboration, patience and confidence. PEC aims to encourage all students to take risks in different learning environments. While the children have been taking part in the Lion King they have learnt many valuable lessons.

Thank you for coming to watch their show and continuing to support the unique educational opportunities that PEC provides.

Beijing Winter & Summer Camp Wed,20 Mar 2019 13:20:44 +0800 Learning opportunities take place throughout the year at Prestige Education Centre.
At PEC we are committed to providing education all year round. Our teachers plan camps that run during summer and winter time. Our extra curricular camps combine a balanced mixture of educational learning as well as creative activities.
Previous winter and summer camps have followed themes such as: the seasons, carnival and seasides. Each unit focusses on every aspect of the UK curriculum allowing young minds to experience science and history through one immersive topic.
We encourage parents to book early.

SUMMER CAMP 2015
Pirate Camp Comes To An End.
After four weeks sailing the seas, Pirate Camp at PEC is coming to an end. We have seen a fantastic amount of learning taking place. With key vocabulary at the heart of the day, students have learnt the different pirate terms, names for the parts of a pirate ship as well as the names of the crew needed to sail the pirate ship.
Throughout the weeks students have taken part in a wide range of pirate themed activities. They have included sewing and making their own treasure pouches, creating their own pirate flags, writing descriptions of dangerous pirates, tea staining treasure maps and going on a treasure hunt and lastly crafting 3D pirate ships.
Our older students worked on producing written descriptions of their pirates as well as detailing older and more famous sea fairing pirates from the past. This was a great learning experience as students used iPads to research more about these villains of the sea. We learnt more about the different materials that float or sink and talked about why this happens. During a science experiment, some of our predictions were challenged as we tested different materials in water.
As well as different pirate related activities, children have been given time to communicate in English. Each morning starts with a small reading session where students either heard a story or read them independently. In the afternoon students played badminton outside or gold and table tennis indoors.
The first four weeks of PEC Summer Camp have been fantastic, with all students attending getting the most out of their day. We now start the second phase of our summer camp with Seasons starting on Monday. There are still places available.
Students will be spending each week on a different season, learning about the changes in weather, environment, animal behaviour and how each season can influence us.]]>
